A former janitor on TikTok has shared with followers which bathroom stall is the cleanest to use in public facilities.

Jennifer Cullison who goes by @the_jenc on TikTok, shared the highly useful information with her 103.2k followers.

Some people may have their own ideas as to which stall to use in a public bathroom but according to this former janitor, who cleaned bathrooms for two years, ‘the bathroom that’s used the least are therefore the cleanest.’

As a janitor Cullison did hourly bathroom checks replacing toilet paper amongst other things meaning she knew which ones were used the most (unless people weren’t using toilet paper - gross!).

According to Cullison, who is now an anthropology PhD student studying human behaviour, “the biggest thing is to go to the farthest stall from the door because people usually go into the first couple of stalls.”

“They don’t go farther in and so the ones in the back especially in big bathrooms never get used.”

And when it came to there being three stalls, Cullison had an interesting theory.

“If there are stalls on either side, you’re going to want to go the left because most people go right, I think that might have to do with like a left right handed thing,” she says.

“So go left.”

Lastly, Cullison’s final tip was to avoid handicapped stalls as although most adults wouldn’t use them as they’re aware someone may need it more, children are not.

“Kids love novelty and so the will go right into those handicap stalls and kids are gross,” she says.

TikTok users were quick to comment stating they’d read the complete opposite saying, “I’ve read the opposite? That most people avoid the first & second stalls as they feel they’re the most used? I give up.”

Another said they had even done a study and found the opposite. This user commented, “Wait! I paused before you said. I did this as a project in microbiology! We found it was the first stall was the cleanest.”
