If you’re currently suffering from back pain, the cure might be simpler than you think.

In a video posted to his TikTok account, massage therapist James Moore has shared a quick exercise that could bring you fast relief, using nothing but a door frame.

“Reduce your back pain with this stretch,” he captioned the post.

Moore demonstrated the stretch, in which you simply have to grab onto a doorframe and place your ankle over the opposite knee. Then bend your standing leg until you’ve lowered into a squat, holding onto the door frame for balance.

He recommends holding the pose for about 10 seconds, then switching the other leg.

“It stretches the glutes, which helps reduce lower back pain and increase mobility,” he wrote.

Commenters on the video praised Moore and his stretch for lessening their pain.

One person said: “Letting people know this actually really helps, I’ve been doing it regularly for a year and it makes a big difference.”

However, another shared that they found the stretch difficult to execute because of knee issues.

Moore regularly shares videos of stretches ideal for curing back pain to his channel, which all receive millions of views.

One video shows him lying facedown, his forehead resting on his hands. Moore bends one leg and puts the foot under his thigh, using it to twist his body so the other leg lifts and his toe touches the floor behind him – and his back makes an audible crack.

Of course, you should always be careful when stretching, and never contort your body to the point of pain.

While it may be tempting to stay in bed until the pain passes, it’s been shown that remaining lightly active can speed up the healing process.

Exercise is more effective for relieving lower back pain than passive approaches such as medication, bed rest and support braces, according to research.
